Valentine’s Day is a day which many look forward to. It’s a day when we can share endless love and pamper those we care about. Whether we spend the day with family, friends, significant others, or our fur family, all that matters is making the most of the special day and reminding those we love how important they are.
Here are a few fun ideas if you’d like to make your pets feel extra special this holiday:
School’s out and summer is finally here! The sun is shining bright, and the family wants to bring their canine companion(s) with them on adventures. You remind yourself to wear sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements. Summer brings fun times doing water sports,
This week’s featured breed is the Pug! The adorable little dog with the wrinkled face, and loud snorting has captured our hearts time and time again. They are such playful and loving canine companions, and if you chat with any Pug owner, they will have endless cute photos of their precious pooch and happily tell you how wonderful the breed is. We are lucky enough to walk a few Pugs every day! We want to feature a brother and sister pair: Mason and Dixie!
“Dixie is bursting with pug love. She’s a friendly, patient pug and just wants to climb on you and give you kisses on your nose. She’s a snuggle bug, and will always be the one leading the pack and racing her way back home from her walk.
Mason is a feisty, bold pug with the most inquisitive expressions and a huge pug smile. Every day he comes charging at the door, only to turn around, go grab a toy, and then run right back.
They both LIVE for their peanut butter biscuits.”

We have more pictures to share and an informative video about the amazing Pugs! Also, check out a cute video we have of Mason and Dixie via our Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/hshpetcare/
“Our dog has special needs, the greatest being the need for a lobotomy. After that, he could use a good dose of Prozac. Add some Ritalin and he’d approach the vague semblance of a well-adjusted canine. Feels almost doable.
Except for his tail of freakish accidents and half-baked suicide attempts.
Sometimes I think Henry—that’s the dog—had ended up in a different family, we’d all be better off. Some combinations just don’t mix. Take Mentos candy and diet cola. Put them together, and you get a carbonated geyser blowing your bottle cap.
Pets are supposed to be fun. A pleasant enrichment of your life. Dogs especially. Loving, loyal, sleeping by your feet.
I don’t believe in divine misprints. But life with Henry makes me wonder.”
Surviving Henry: Adventures in Loving a Canine Catastrophe by Erin Taylor Young is a story that will have you laughing constantly. This amazingly touching story about all the mishaps, accidents, and disasters that come from one boxer named Henry. Through the ups and downs, Henry helps his family see what is truly important in life, thus bringing the ultimate happiness of having a canine companion in a family.
We have included a video by the author because we know you’ll want to see the legendary Henry that inspired the book.
The Boston terrier is a breed we all know and love. They are well known for their distinct coloring, which makes them look like they are wearing a suit. The Boston terrier is averagely between 15-17 inches tall, and 15-25 pounds. A fun fact: “The Boston terrier is known as the American gentleman because of its kind and gentle disposition” (1).
We are lucky enough to share lots of time with a wonderful pair of Boston terriers, named Samuel Adams and Watson Homes.
To learn more about this amazing breed, we have included a short video by Animal Planet. We hope you enjoy!
